Instruction Guide and Troubleshooting
Thank you for choosing Answer Express as your wireless service provider.
For your convenience we have placed the instruction booklet on our website, as we do not include booklets in the packaging any longer. You will find it under "Owners Manual".
Your pager will arrive already activated. You will need to install a AA battery. When you install the battery your new pager will automatically start to beep or vibrate and you will see the menu screen.
If you have purchased a 2-Way pager, the unit will have to connect with the tower. The menu screen will say either "Send & Receive" or "Full Service" when this is complete. It can take up to 2 hours for your pager to update itself if the battery has been out for awhile.
You may conduct a self-test by dialing your pager number and then entering a series of numbers into your telephone keypad. When your new pager receives a page then you are ready to receive your personal messages.
Troubleshooting:
We try to activate your pager with a telephone number that is local to you. Some areas are so large we are unable to tell what will be local and what would be long distance. If the number is long distance to you, call or email us and we will change the number to your local area.
If you are having problems with your pager, first check your battery. Depending on how many pages you are getting, it may need to be changed out every 6 to 8 weeks. You will see a small battery in the lower right hand side of your screen. When this appears, you are borrowing power from an internal battery and may be missing pages.
When you replace the battery, your pages (if any) will then come in once the pager has reconnected with the tower.
If you are not receiving text pages, first check to be sure the sender has your correct pager address. You address is yourphonenumber@archwireless.net. Most mistakes are using .com instead of .net.
When trying to text to a cell phone, use the * then the telephone number. You can also use the email address to email. The fastest way to find out their address is to have them text page you first. Then you can see the return address. You may also find the address of most phones on this website under "Cell Phone Email Address". It will be on the menu, bottoms left of this page. You may see more than one address for the provider. In that case you will need to try each one until the page goes out.
If your are still unable to text page to the cell phone, you may need to ad another feature to your pager called SMS. Most cell phone plans do not require this feature so we only add it if needed. Addional charges may apply. We do not need the pager to add this feature, just contact us by phone or email.
If you are changing out your pager and we have shipped you a new one, it may not be activated when you receive it. If the problem you reported did not involve missed pages, we leave your old pager on until you are ready to change it out. Simply call or email us and we will activate the new pager with your telephone number. That number will not change unless you request it.
